We are finding the audio engineers in the more recent films are really starting to make great use of the Atmos height speakers, so our suggestion is to go as big as will fit with your set up or budget. I'm using a light gray cotton screen, stretched, with a loose black terry backer as a light trap. But that doesn’t mean you can just throw speakers into a room and expect great sound. For one, there is an audio characteristic called “imaging” that deals with how the stereo separation is perceived by the listener. Most projectors have a zoom capability, just be aware of how much it is able to zoom. Poor Color Temperature – The color temperature of red, blue, green, and yellow can appear brighter than intended. This happens because of slightly larger clusters of material in the woven fabric. Kind of like a dead pixel on a television that appears brighter than the other pixels. This larger cluster of material allows more light to be reflected off of it.
The same thing might also apply to elevation Atmos speakers if your main speaker brand does not make elevation Atmos speakers. It also used to be that producers were not sending a lot of big effects and full range information to the surround channels. The screen would be approximately 9' wide, so I'm looking to sit atleast 13.5' - 14' away in the 1st row. Unless I go for In/On walls, it looks like that may be tight for most speakers . All three of the systems feature dual 18-inch subs and LCRs with 15-inch woofers for serious low-end reproduction across every seat in the room.
